What would actually drive HBAR appreciation, given that obvious answers (burn, more TPS, more partnerships) probably don’t? Landed on five ideas. Become the required settlement layer for a sovereign CBDC — not a pilot, not a vendor relationship, but HBAR structurally required as collateral or gas. Mid-tier sovereigns (UAE, Singapore, Brazil, India) want neutral non-US-controlled infrastructure. Council governance is a feature here, not a bug.
2. Engineer a Strategy-style HBAR treasury company — public equity vehicle that accumulates HBAR continuously, funded by convertible debt and equity at premiums to NAV. BTC has Strategy, ETH has Bitmine, SOL has DFDV. HBAR has nothing. Nomura + Standard Bank on the Council could orchestrate this.
3. Position HBAR as the cross-platform settlement asset for tokenized RWAs — don’t compete with Ethereum/Stellar for hosting the assets; win the interop layer between them. BUIDL on ETH needs to settle against tokenized funds elsewhere. That market doesn’t have a winner yet.
4. Get HCS adopted as the regulatory standard for AI provenance — EU AI Act enforcement is creating mandatory demand for audit logs. C2PA hasn’t standardized on a blockchain. Win the NIST/ISO/EU reference implementation slot and AI compliance traffic becomes non-discretionary.
