The scene then shifts to connect this ancient trade to modern futures trading with an image of the U.S. Capitol, followed by a chalkboard displaying the Fischer-Black mathematical pricing model. The host emphasizes that equity options, represented by an upward trading chart graphic, were once a niche Wall Street tool until their explosion in popularity back in 2017, tying the 2,600-year-old concept to today's retail trading boom in names like $SPCX and $GME. On-screen text throughout highlights key terms like "HEARD THIS STORY," "THALES RAN AROUND," "BET BIG WITHOUT HIT," "CALL OPTION," "FISCHER BLACK AND," and "EQUITY OPTIONS." > > "You've heard of the 1000% gains, but do you know the history? Unusual Whales focuses on options. But how does it work with stocks like SpaceX, $SPCX , and GameStop, $GME ? Take a listen. [Spoken audio]: A broke philosopher created the most powerful tool on Wall Street and it's been banned, brought back, and last week it broke an all-time record, and you've never heard this story. 2600 years ago a Greek philosopher named Thales was constantly getting bullied for being poor. Everyone in town is like, Why you want to be a philosopher? You don't make any money. So he decided to show them. He used all his knowledge and theorized that there'd be a massive olive harvest that year. So my guy Thales ran around town, paid small deposits to lock up every olive press in the region. Well, nobody was paying attention. He bought the option to use them. But here's what you need to understand options exist to satisfy two needs for buyers. The ability to dream big and bet big without betting too much. Thales was the buyer put down a small bet massive upside if the harvest hits. But the press owners took that deal to guaranteed money up front to give up their potential upside. That's the seller. And then when a harvest season hit and it hit hard Because my boy Thales was right, he controlled the supply of olive presses, rented them out at whatever price he wanted, made a fortune, and bounced. And that was the first call option. But that was a bilateral contract. He had a buyer and a seller and a handshake. And that's how options worked for thousands of years. But options had a big problem. Manipulation. See, around the time of World War I, speculators were giving the crop prices and farmers were getting destroyed. Congress was like, hold up, y'all, and they passed the Futures Trading Act in 1921. wanted to try to rein it in, but it wasn't enough. And when the depression hit, traders were still manipulated into crashing with commodity price. And Congress was like, hell no. And in 1936, they banned commodity options entirely and then crickets for almost 40 years. But the game was flipped upside down in 1973. That's when the Chicago board of trade turned an old smoking lounge into SIBO, the first formal options exchange. And now this was just for equity options like stocks, not commodities. That's banned, remember? But for the first time, options are standardized. that same year, my guys Fisher Black and Myron Schultz, they dropped a formula borrowed from Thermodynamic Physics that cracked the code on options pricing. And my boys cook so hard on this, they won the Nobel Prize for it. But here's where it gets wild, because thanks to all that standardization, equity options, they're running clean for over a decade. So Congress is like, oh, why don't we try this commodity options thing again? And they passed the Futures Trading Act by 1984. Commodity options were officially back, but now options didn't really go mainstream Just until recently, back in 2017, Robinhood made options trading completely free and every major brokerage had to follow suit. Then in 2021, you probably remember this, retail traders on Reddit use call options to squeeze hedge funds on GameStop and options went from like a niche Wall Street tool to front page news overnight. And it has not slowed down cause just this past week on the first day SpaceX options became tradable, they break the whole time record for first day single stock options volume. So they banned it, regulated it, Christ it killed commissions and 2,600 years later. It's still the same story. Baileys and the olive presses just now with rocket ships and AI chips." ### Post #2 by @reddit > **Author:** BetterBudget ([@reddit](https://x.com/reddit)) > **Metrics:** 30 likes · 0 retweets · 1 comments · 3.0K views > **Posted:** 2026-06-22T13:17:16.540000+00:00 > **Source Link:** [https://x.com/reddit/status/3e5711ece66693efe34d97559922f02b8bb7e704033434a9a0b8c426c0f70eb1](https://x.com/reddit/status/3e5711ece66693efe34d97559922f02b8bb7e704033434a9a0b8c426c0f70eb1) > > "$GME Gamma Exposure ☢️🔋🧲" ### Post #3 by @Kyl0Z3n > **Author:** Kyl ([@Kyl0Z3n](https://x.com/Kyl0Z3n)) > **Metrics:** 0 likes · 0 retweets · 0 comments · 24 views > **Posted:** 2026-06-22T03:35:14+00:00 > **Source Link:** [https://x.com/Kyl0Z3n/status/2068900591707811886](https://x.com/Kyl0Z3n/status/2068900591707811886) > > "Good luck this week $GME and $BBBYQ baggots.
