To make a long story short, I moved states 2 months after I got into an argument with my parents at 22. I wanted to leave the house to clear my mind but dad wouldn’t let me. He said he’d beat me and he didn’t care if he went to jail. I pulled out my phone to record and he pushed me on the bed and got on top of me to knock it put of my hands. I felt violated, scared, and betrayed. My mom was there while this was all happening and defended him.
To this day, they’ll occasionally call and act like nothing happened. I went to visit my home state last summer for a wedding and no acknowledgment either. It just fucks with me and I think about other things they’ve done in the past and I start crying. When I was a teenager they caught me sexting and took my door off. I’ve been whipped with extension cord. The worst was when we had a mentally ill sibling who was in their 30s when I was in middle school-senior year who was extremely physically and verbally abusive. There were bruises and screaming shouting arguments constantly. I kept telling them they should kick her out because she’s abusing a minor but they kept telling me “ This experience is to prepare you for conflict in the real world”. I feel like this has just prepared me for being submissive for abusers.
I feel so confused, because what I experienced was domestic violence, but not partner violence. I feel like o have to explain that part and there seems to not be a community for it. I’m hoping someone out here can relate."
