The title basically explains it. Went up for an open manager role in my department that I was turned down for in lieu of a candidate that took 10 years off and has only recently returned. For context, if I miss a day, the entire department cannot function, and for half of the time I’ve been there I have worked the job of three people alone. I won’t say I’m a perfect employee, but I grinded for over two years for this promotion, and was turned down for someone who rarely, if ever is in office. There will now be no more open leadership positions for the foreseeable future. I know the obvious solution is to leave, and I am looking at alternatives, but I really don’t want to throw away everything I’ve done in the last few years."
