I’ve had the same gynecologist for 4–5 years and have had annual exams during that time. I have severe panic attacks surrounding pelvic exams. I’ve cried before, during, and after multiple appointments.
My current gynecologist will prescribe my birth control without an exam, but whenever I tell her I don’t want one, she uses a patronizing tone and tells me about patients in their 50s who had severe problems because they had untreated chlamydia for years. She also tells me that blood testing isn’t an option and that I need Pap testing.
I recently moved, so she’s now about four hours away. I drove back to see her once, but I really need someone local, especially because I eventually want children and would like to establish a relationship with an OB/GYN well before then."
