So this happened today and I genuinely don’t know whether I should cry, sleep for 12 hours, or eventually laugh about it.
Last night I was playing cricket pretty late. I managed to get hit in the nose, had a pretty significant nosebleed, and didn’t get home until around 2 AM.
I slept for maybe 2–3 hours because I had to wake up at 4:45 AM. My parents had a morning flight, so I got ready, called a cab for 6 AM, went with them all the way to Bangalore airport and saw them off.
But my airport adventure wasn’t finished.
My girlfriend and her parents were also flying out later in the morning for a trip, so I waited around at the airport for them. Their flight was at 11:20 AM, we spent some time together there, and eventually my girlfriend and I came back home.
At this point I was absolutely destroyed. I’d barely slept, had been hit in the face the previous night, and had spent half the morning at an airport.
All I wanted was a nap.
Before going to sleep, I saw my girlfriend sitting there and thought, basically, “Let me give her a kiss and then I’m going to pass out.”
So I walked over.
And kissed her.
Cute, right?
There was just one tiny detail my sleep-deprived brain had failed to notice.

And…

I had absolutely no idea.
The moment I realized what had happened, my soul pretty much left my body.
My girlfriend was mortified. Like genuinely devastated. She started crying and saying that everyone at work would think she was unprofessional, that nobody would respect her anymore, that this could get escalated, that she could even get kicked off the project.
She is extremely upset with me and, understandably, told me to leave her alone.
And now I feel absolutely horrible.
I genuinely wasn’t trying to interrupt her meeting. I didn’t even know the camera was on. In my exhausted brain I was literally just giving my girlfriend a kiss before going to sleep.
I completely understand why she’s embarrassed, and I’m not laughing at embarrassment.
But there’s also this tiny part of my brain looking at the sequence of events—night cricket → smashed nose → 2 hours of sleep → airport marathon → finally get home → innocent kiss → accidentally broadcast boyfriend affection to corporate colleagues → relationship crisis—and thinking:
This is objectively one of the most absurd ways I could have fucked up today.
Right now she’s still extremely upset, so I’m giving her space and definitely NOT suggesting that any part of this is funny.
But Reddit… how badly did I actually fuck up?
Is this genuinely something that could hurt someone’s professional reputation/project, or is this the kind of horribly embarrassing WFH moment that everyone forgets about after a few days?
Because right now my girlfriend thinks I’ve destroyed her professional life, I feel like absolute shit for embarrassing her, and I’m running on basically no sleep.
Slept about 2–3 hours after getting hit in the nose playing cricket, spent the morning at the airport seeing family off, came home completely exhausted, kissed my girlfriend before going for a nap, and discovered approximately one second too late that she was in a work meeting with her camera on. She is absolutely mortified and thinks it could damage her career. I feel terrible and would like to uninstall today."
