I thought I was immune to phishing attempts and it shocked me to see how easily I nearly succumbed. May this act as a cautionary tale, especially if you are in the UK. I was telephoned earlier this evening by someone claiming to be from the Metropolitan Police, although the number on screen showed 'Gloucester Police Station'. The man identified himself as Michael Anderson (number 124753F) who gave me a crime reference number CIRS-3636/204. He sounded like a reasonably intelligent white guy, speaking well-enunciated English. He said that I would be able to access the precise personal details that were leaked if I went along to my local police station after 72 hours had elapsed from the time of the call, and he sounded concerned. This was accompanied by a text from 'MET_UK', which repeated the reference number." --- ## Contributing Accounts - `@CULTonNosh` (https://x.com/CULTonNosh)
