I probably shouldn’t be posting this.
A few weeks ago, I started an ARG called LostBandArchive.
The idea was pretty simple. I’d create fake bands, old recordings, photos, flyers, case files, whatever I could think of, and make it look like they had somehow disappeared from music history.
It was supposed to be fun.
The first case was called Friday Never Came.
The band supposedly came from a place called Greyhaven. Most of the evidence pointed somewhere between 1999 and 2005. There were references to something called Lost and Found Records, a recurring symbol, and a building called the Vesper Records Annex.
None of it was real.
At least, it wasn’t supposed to be.
I made the first poster myself. I made the files. I wrote the notes. I knew exactly where everything came from.
Then people started finding things I hadn’t put there.
At first it was little stuff.
A date that didn’t match.
A symbol showing up somewhere I hadn’t drawn it.
A name appearing in a photo where I knew I hadn’t put one.
I figured somebody was messing with me.
Then I found a page in one of my own files that I didn’t remember making.
It mentioned another band.

I hadn’t introduced them yet.
Then there was Nightmare Avenue.
Same thing.
I hadn’t written either of them into the story at that point.
I kept telling myself it was somebody copying the project. Maybe somebody had access to the files. Maybe I’d forgotten something.
Then I found the Vesper address.
41.5632° N, 80.2147° W.
I don’t remember putting that in anything.
I also don’t remember deciding to use Greyhaven.
That’s when this stopped being funny.
I’ve been going through everything tonight because I wanted to prove to myself that I was just forgetting things.
I found an old page from the archive notebook.
At the top, in my handwriting, it says:

Underneath are the dates.
10/23/03.
Friday Never Came.
Autumn Was Ours.
A few other names I haven’t released yet.
And underneath all of it is that same symbol.
The one I drew for the project.
Except the page is dated before I started LostBandArchive.
I checked the date three times.
Then I noticed something worse.
There’s another name written in the corner.

That’s my old band.
I haven’t talked about them publicly because that’s a whole different story.
I don’t know why their name is in an archive that I created as fiction.
And I really don’t know why the newest file contains a photograph I don’t remember taking.
It’s just an empty hallway.
At the end of it is a door.
Written on the door is:

I zoomed in on the bottom of the picture.
Someone wrote something there.
I can barely read it.
It says:

I thought that was the end.
Then I noticed the timestamp.
The photo was taken tomorrow.
I’m going to bed.
Or at least I’m going to try.
If another file shows up tonight, I’m done posting them.
I’m serious.
I don’t care if people think this is part of the ARG anymore.
I just want whoever is doing this to stop.
Because I never made that last picture."
