Never been a problem all this time. I also have a freelance gig outside of work, so during my lunch breaks I like to catch up on those emails and get ahead on personal projects. One time he asked if I could attend a work event on a Saturday (week of). I said sure although I’d have to leave slightly early as I had another commitment that evening. He basically made a comment about how I should reconsider where my priorities lie (in a nicer way).
