· 2026-10-02T11:39:01.768000+00:00Lost at 24 with no mentor. Marketing, business, MBA abroad? Need honest advice Hi everyone. I'm 24F, I have ADHD, and my family has never really been supportive. We're a middle class, single income family, and because of my narcissistic father, I never wanted to take help from them. They also never offered. From the age of 20, I stopped taking money from home and started earning on my own. I still try to help my mother here and there whenever I can. Becoming independent was never really a choice for me. It was something I had to do, or I would have just rotted at home. I picked up a lot of side gigs, studied alongside, and finished my graduation in psychology with a focus on consumer psychology. After working at a couple of marketing agencies, I started doing marketing on my own. Honestly, I've had a lot of fun with it. I'm growing slowly, learning a lot, and I've started earning comparatively more now. But my family has started questioning why I'm doing this and saying marketing has no future. Now I'm really confused. It's working out for me right now, but I keep wondering if it's sustainable long term. With business, chasing payments is a reality until you reach a certain level. Waiting for invoices and sending reminders is part of it. At 24, I don't think that's a bad thing, but I'd like to hear from people further along. I'm a big yapper, so I've always wanted to create content. Not even for money, just for visibility. When clients ask me how something works, I'd love to just send them my own video explaining it. I also want to talk about mental health, because it's still a stigma in India, and very few people who actually live with these issues create content. Most of it comes from doctors speaking to the masses. But with ADHD and depression, every day feels like hitting a reset button. There's no continuation, and it's really hard for me to stay consistent. If anyone with ADHD has cracked consistency, I'd love to know how. I know a 9 to 5 corporate job isn't for me. The rupee keeps falling and I've always wanted to go abroad, but my family never sent me. Because I started earning so young, I couldn't pursue much education after my bachelor's. People keep suggesting an MBA, ideally abroad. Is that genuinely better than what I'm doing now? I love my work, and realistically I don't have the budget for an MBA right now anyway. Eventually I want to start a product business. Is that a good idea? If you have recommendations for businesses worth exploring, please share. I genuinely feel lost. I don't have a mentor or anyone I can look up to and talk through this with. Any advice, honest opinions, or even your own story would really help. Thank you for reading this far.
