Alright, girls, now that cold and flu season is kicking off, I'm here to remind you NOT to buy Frenadol. 10 sachets come out to 15€ and right in the middle of 2026 there are cheaper alternatives

Can we talk about how women treat other women? I recently had surgery on my spine (last week). I had an injury several months prior (thus the surgery). Anyways, my surgeon was a total professional, he was great. It was the nurses - all women, who were surprisingly cruel to me as a vulnerable patient in excruciating pain. I had anterior/posterior spine surgery, for me, the pain was worse than childbirth. I do have a chronic pain condition (fibromyalgia), so am somewhat tolerant to pain medication. Not to mention the high doses they were giving me after my injury prior to surgery. It’s been rough. For the first 24 hours in the hospital I had fantastic care, although I felt they were a bit stingy in meds. Then a day nurse came on shift my second day in the hospital. I had been tracking my pain medication to help me feel more in control and to stay on top of the pain. I’ve learned you have to be assertive for yourself in the medical industry (which unfortunately I have a lot of experience with). So four hours go by, it’s time for my meds. I ring the nurse after waiting an extra 20 or so minutes first. She comes in a few minutes later with what I thought was my normal pain medication they’d been giving me. I looked at the pill, it it wasn’t the same. The young (mid-twenties) nurse then told me it was tramadol. A single fucking 50mg tramadol for acute post-surgical pain. I just stared at her, then flat out told her that this would not help me. She just stared me down and gave me a “look”. She stone-faced told me she was going to start cycling my meds. She had the power over me. The next 24 hours I suffered in severe pain while they try to get my pain back under control. Nothing worked on me or my blood pressure would drop too low to make it safe for pain meds. It was miserable. For context, I am a highly educated single woman/mother in STEM, late 40’s, excellent health. I used to teach nursing students. Why did she feel the need to torture me like that? The other nurses (all women), were wonderful to me, and one even told me she agreed with me (I complained) on the medication issue. The charge nurse, wouldn’t even look me in the eye when I complained and mumbled that this young nurse was cycling my meds, and walked out. I’ve already complained to my doctor and the hospital, and will be contacting the patient advocate about this. Not only should she have been professional (you don’t have to like me), but why did she feel the need to do this to me. Also, why didn’t the charge nurse stop it, she stood up for that nurse. It’s fucked up. We are a sisterhood, we got to take care of each other, not hurt each other. Especially now, with all that is going on.
