Bought Bitcoin near the top? The first entry isn’t the whole strategy Averaging down vs blindly buying the dip These two things often get treated as the same strategy, but I don’t think they are. Blind averaging down: “Price dropped, so I’ll buy more.” Structured averaging: “I have a maximum budget, predefined areas I’m interested in, conditions for adding exposure, and a point where I stop.” Both can still lose money. A lower average entry doesn’t magically make a position safe. But the second approach at least defines the risk before emotions take over.
