More job postings. But are there actually more opportunities? There’s a little bit of encouraging news in the job market this week, but I’m not sure job seekers are feeling it yet. Indeed says job postings are now up year over year for the first time in almost four years. That sounds good. But there’s another side to it. New postings, jobs that have been up for 7 days or less, are still about 6% below pre-pandemic levels. And LinkedIn reports that actual hiring, while up slightly from July to August, is still 6.5% lower than a year ago and about 25% below its pre-pandemic pace. Indeed Hiring Lab So maybe “Are there more job postings?” isn’t the question that matters most.
