This is becoming scary The 10-year is sitting at levels it hasn't seen in two decades and credit card rates, mortgage rates, and corporate refinancing costs are all getting repriced at the same time. The Fed hasn't touched rates. The market did this on its own. The part that keeps me up is that analysts are saying the economy isn't even showing signs of cooling at these levels. That means either the lags are longer than anyone thinks, or the system absorbs more than it used to until it suddenly doesn't. Both of those readings are bad, just on different timelines. I'm sitting in shorter duration right now and not touching anything, if you're still long the long end here, what's your actual thesis for why this stops before something cracks?

Not sure if this is the right place as it's not bullion or coins but I just went to a "US Roadshow" buying event to sell some miscellaneous sterling silver items. I have 16.78 troy oz in a few pieces and asked how much they would pay per oz. He initially said they pay 80% of melt which sounded like a good deal to me. He then weighed the silver and it showed 335 something on the scale. I said that seemed low and then he stated it was in Penny Weight and that was how all dealers quoted prices. He then said he would pay $1.2 dollars per penny weight or around $400. When I pressed that that seemed lower than 80% of melt he just reiterated that he pays 1.2 per penny weight.
