Not to make light of 12-step groups at all, but I kinda feel like I need to get it off my chest. I spend my taxable dividends instead of reinvesting them. I know this is heresy here, but hear me out. Due to life, the majority of our savings are in our taxable brokerages, not pre-tax vehicles. Wife and I are lucky enough to generate roughly $100K in interest/dividends annually, and we spend a lot, if not all, of it, which allows me to be a stay at home dad and basically retire early. No debt, own the house/cars, 529s fully funded. Very fortunate. I understand the wonder of compound interest, and know that I could (probably) leave my kids an even bigger estate if I just reinvested them and slaved away in a professional job I detested, but instead, I am home with them, am more present as a dad and in their lives.
