So first off, because I know I will get this, no I am not interested in being a quant. Not my thing. From listening to a lot of finance/investment related postcasts out of general interest it seems like there are careers out there where finance people are dispatched to companies/sites to handle business. Could be anything from doing an independent analysis to taking over and handling a change over. I think I would be really suitable for such a job, in domains where I have good knowledge. For example, my PhD was mostly in high performance computing, so I understand the topic quite well.
