· 2026-09-24T15:53:24.134000+00:00Is trying to only have a job in trades and not getting a college degree safe? I am 27 and have been going back to college for about a year now. I am now set on getting something like a trade like carpentntry or masonry or EMT to be able to afford my own place. My plan is to get the job and then save up for my own place and then maybe continue college from there. I’m set on the trade first but then college is a maybe. I would prefer to work a trade for the rest of my life rather than some sort of college job but my only issue is its safety. I feel like having a degree is more safe than relying on trades. Along with this I want to have time for making music, painting, and mauy Thai classes. If I were to go to school along with work I wouldn’t have time for all of this. So I would prefer to just work a trade and rely on finding another trade job if I were to ever lose that job. Is it safer to get a degree and put aside some of my hobbies for a bit or can I easily just stay with a trade and have more free time and find different trade jobs like emt or hvac or masonry or carpentry or window or pool technician if I ever lose my trade job?

· 2026-09-24T15:48:43.841000+00:0023 M At a Crossroad Im 23 I have a year of experience in HVAC and a couple college credits. What I do isn’t horrible. The pay isn’t great unless you go commercial which is harder physically and usually requires more hours. I recently enrolled in a local college for engineering. However, I learned recently that due to starting with the base level math part time will take me ten years. I feel like my futures are either be 33 with savings and a career but worse knees and a rough schedule when the weather is extreme, or be 33 starting a new career with debt and little to no money saved.

So I thought I'd jot down some notes to help anyone who was a bit confused by the column headings... → At first I thought it was showing an equivalence between the older Amplification ratio (AR) and the newer Amplification [multiple]
