I am genuinely saddened for everyone who lost funds. This was devastating for people and damaging for Coldcard. My Coldcard Q was running firmware v1.3.5Q from November 2025, so the device was affected. But when I created the wallet, I used Coldcard’s dice roll process with more than 100 private rolls. I was slow to react when the news broke because I believed my setup had added independent entropy. When I checked, my bitcoin was still intact. I moved it off the device, updated the firmware, generated a new seed, and moved it back. From what I understand, I was not simply lucky. The firmware’s randomness was flawed, but the dice rolls added independent entropy. Coldcard says 50 proper rolls were enough to protect a seed from this specific flaw."
