So with the Coldcard RNG bug fiasco reminding everyone that hardware wallets can silently generate weak seeds for years before anyone notices, I wanted to share a manual method I used that keeps the entropy generation completely offline and out of any chip’s hands. First, grab the official BIP39 English wordlist (2048 words) from the Bitcoin BIPs GitHub repo and print it out. Before you cut anything up, actually check the list: count that it’s exactly 2048 words, make sure there are no duplicates, and confirm it’s alphabetically sorted, since the real list is and a tampered fake often isn’t. If you’re paranoid (you should be), diff it against a fresh download to rule out someone having swapped a word in a PDF floating around online.
Cut it into individual slips, one word each, then recount to make sure you’ve got all 2048 and none got merged or lost in the cutting process. Toss them all in a box."
