What principles do you refuse to compromise even when they are inconvenient? These are the questions that stays with me. I always compare it to a building. When you walk into a beautiful building, you're impressed by the glass, the designs, the lightning. Nobody really walks in and says, whoa, look at those foundations. the truth is the foundation is the only reason everything else can exist and I honestly think exchanges was the same way. Users see the interface, the listings, the campaigns, the announcements but underneath all of that there is governance, security, compliance, even risk management but those aren't the exciting part. There are parts that quietly decides whether the user will trust the platform years from now. That's why one thing in Volgas later really stood out to me. It wasn't a statistic, it wasn't a milestone, it was the sense that makes isn't only asking how do we grow faster. It's also asking how do we build something that people can still continue trusting even years after. And honestly I think that's a much harder question to answer. Because building something fast is impressive but building something that lasts it takes discipline. Sometimes it even means making decisions that people don't immediately appreciate. Even the appointment of Robert McDonald made me think about that. Most people sees a compliance announcement and screw past it but I saw something different. I saw another brick being added to the foundation. Not because compliance is exciting but because trust is. And trust isn't built in just one announcement. It's built through hundreds of decision that most people will never notice. So after reading the letter, I didn't come away thinking Megs has a good first 100 days. I came away wondering something much bigger.
