For regulated assets, that's a problem. Financial instruments have conditions that must be met for a transfer to be legal. Our CEO & Co-founder, Daniel Coheur, explains where ERC-20 reaches its limit. [Spoken audio]: The RC20 is a great thing because, again, it demonstrated what is a smart contract. There was a first application, and therefore people could start projecting into, oh my god, I can really program conditions into a smart contract and have those conditions executed without any intervention of a third party. So in the case of the RC20, it managed the counterparty risk, which is not trivial, right? The problem with the RC20 is non-permission. It means that if I deliver an RC20 to your wallet address, You will get it, even if you don't want it. But of course, that's a basic limitation that everyone will understand. But when it comes to financial instruments where there are quite a lot of conditions that have to be met, are you a credited investor or qualified investors? Are you a Luxembourg resident? Then obviously the ERC-20 is not suitable to create a representation of those assets because you cannot enforce those conditions. So there was a need to have a standard that was enabling indeed, amongst other things, to enforce a control that is needed when you deal with financial instruments." --- ## Contributing Accounts - `@reddit` (https://x.com/reddit)
