The way they do this is they ask you to state your name on the record, and when you do, they presume you are consenting to represent the constructive trust they have created. By bringing friends with him and simply stating that he was in court on that matter, yet invoking his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination to not state his name, Jevon technically appeared in court but did not consent to jurisdiction. Now the court is in a tough spot. They cannot issue a warrant for failure to appear, as his friends have submitted sworn affidavits stating that he was there, and the prosecution would have to prove them wrong under penalty of perjury, which is impossible. They also cannot move forward with the case because they have not acquired jurisdiction. As of right now, there is still no warrant.
