[Spoken audio]: There is some confusion around this yield debate in clarity, and let me try to clarify it. So no pun intended. Clarify the Priority Act. What lawmakers in the banking lobby is concerned with are schemes whereby the issuer has a commercial arrangement with one of its customers, a distribution partner like Coinbase, and it's saying that we're gonna take some of the yield from the reserves and we're going to give that to you, and then you're gonna give it to your customers solely for holding stablecoins, right? So I'm putting stablecoins in Coinbase and I'm doing nothing with them. They stay in my account and I'm being paid rewards, right? What clarity is not, and none of the discourses around is putting a prohibition on lending stablecoins, on buying securities with stablecoins, on buying commodities with stablecoins, on buying investment products with stablecoins. Like if that were the narrative, and that's open trade, like open, you're not getting paid yield for stable coins sitting in an account. You're investing those stable coins, right? And those stable coins are getting deployed into some risk-taking activity. And by risk-taking, I mean, that could even be buying a treasury bill. You don't earn interest, you don't earn interest for free, right? And what clarity is focused on is those use cases where you're getting paid interest for free, right? Where you're just the stable coins sitting in your account and they're getting paid out of Coinbase's marketing budget because Coinbase is getting paid from circle, right? And whether that's good or bad, I mean, philosophically, I think that I don't like this prohibition, even though it's good for our business because the reason that they're arguing against it is like the taxi cabs fighting against Uber. It's just like the banks, like the taxi cabs knew Uber was a better product and that they were in big trouble. And so they said, because of our union, we're going to kill this product that we know is better for a consumer to protect ourselves. That's pretty much what the banking lobby is doing here, is they're saying like, if anyone can just earn yield just for holding a stable coin, like that is so much better than earning like 20 basis points in a checking account, right? And so we're gonna lose a lot of customers because of that. And because of that, we're gonna fight against it. But just to kind of recap, Clarity isn't prohibiting any yield generation. You can still lend a stable coin, you can still buy security with a stable coin. It's really that narrow use case of being paid yield for doing nothing with your stable coins that they're concerned with. And it's the reason that they're fighting for that is because they know that that is a very competitive thing against their services, their bank deposits, which they pay nothing on today."
