I was expecting it to be an image that I would, you know, later harvest from the live stream and keep as a personal memento. But as it turned out, it went instantly viral. And after 45 minutes, it was so viral that they decided to escort me out. They said that it was disruptive and that they were worried that I was going to hold up another sign. I knew from that moment that I should try to preserve anonymity. I took a cab back to my office. My friends there told me that it had blown up, my phone was still dead, and they urged me to post my Bitcoin address. People were leaping over the table give me money and one friend said oh you know if you don't post your Bitcoin address right now somebody else is going to post a fake one. I felt like I had abused the reputation of my co-workers and my employer but I was glad that the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency communities saw value in it. Bitcoin and its community is born out of the cypherpunk movement and these are people that disdain government power and when somebody can stick their finger in the eye of the government and ruffle their feathers it's something that they want to cheer. So even though I held the sign up on a whim it does overall represent my greater political, economic philosophy.
